Shaking head trend AI: the smug shake, then the stare

Upload one close-up of your calf, cat, dog or your own face. Eyes squeezed shut, chin up, a pleased little grin and a slow shake of the head, like it knows exactly what it did. Then the eyes pop wide open, mouth open, tongue out. Twice, in eight seconds.

How to make a Shaking Head Trend AI video

  1. Add one close-up

A pet or a person, face toward the camera, both eyes open and visible, the head filling a good part of the picture. One face per photo.

  2. Keep Shaking Head selected

This page opens the creator on the Shaking Head effect, so the two beats, the locked close-up and the beat underneath are already set.

  3. Render eight seconds

Two full rounds of the shake and the stare, the same length as the original calf clip. Eight seconds is the only length.

  4. Post it with a caption

Add your own "how my hb looks at me afterโ€ฆ" line on top, then add the trend sound when you upload if you want it.

Who to put in it

The joke is a face that looks far too pleased with itself, then far too innocent. Pick a face that can carry both:

  • A calf or a cow

The trend started with calves, so a cow photo is the classic version. A close-up with both eyes showing works best.

  • Your cat

Cats are the most remade version. A cat lying on the bed and looking straight at you is the original setup.

  • Your dog

Flat-faced breeds like pugs and bulldogs give the biggest wide-eyed stare. Fluffy dogs work too if the eyes are not hidden.

  • Yourself

Send it to the friend who caused the caption. A plain, front-facing selfie with your hair off your eyes is enough.

  • The friend in the caption

Use a photo of the hb who restarted your test, with their permission, and tag them.

  • A whole set

Make one for every pet in the house and post them as a slideshow. People will pick a favourite in the comments.

What is the shaking head trend?

It is a TikTok meme from October 2026. A calf, a cat or a dog looks into the camera, squeezes its eyes shut in a smug grin and slowly shakes its head, then snaps its eyes wide open with its mouth open and the tip of the tongue out, and does it again.

The caption carries the story: "how my hb looks at me after he restarted my test that was 95% of my grade". "hb" means homeboy, a friend. Remakes change the percentage, the test and the animal. Many of the animal clips are AI-made, which is why people remake them with their own pets and faces.

The two beats

Beat one, about two seconds: eyes fully shut, chin lifted, a wide closed-mouth grin, the head tilting slowly from side to side. Beat two, about two seconds: the eyes pop open into a big round stare at the lens, the mouth opens and the tongue tip shows, the head holds still.

Your video plays both beats twice on one close-up that never cuts or moves, so it loops cleanly when it repeats on TikTok.

What comes from where

From your photo: the face, the fur or hair, the markings, the colours and the place behind. A calf stays a calf, and your kitchen stays your kitchen.

From the effect: the shut eyes, the grin, the shake, the stare, the timing and a light instrumental beat. There is no prompt to write.

Photos that work best

A sharp, well-lit close-up with both eyes open and looking at the camera. Closed eyes carry less of a face than open ones, so a small, blurry or side-on photo makes the shut-eye beat drift.

Long fur over the eyes, like a Highland calf's fringe, softens the shut-eye beat: it still works, but the change from shut to wide open is easier to see when the eyes are clear.

The sound

Your video comes with a light, bouncy instrumental beat made for it, with no vocals. The trend itself has no named song; most posts use an original sound.

To use the trend sound, mute the clip when you post on TikTok, tap Add sound and pick it from a shaking head post. That also links your post to the sound's page.

Why make it here

The studio behind our ai rap video generator makes these too: if a render does not finish, the credits come back on their own, and if a finished one looks wrong, tell us and we will look at it.

Effects cost 1 credit per second, so the eight-second shaking head trend AI video is 8 credits. Packs and plans are on the pricing page.

More one-photo effects

For another before-and-after joke from one selfie, the skull cap trend goes from a goofy smile to lights off and a cold stare.

For your pet with a mic, the pet rap video turns the same photo into a short rap.
