Hop Hop Hop AI dance: poke, squash, swap

Upload a photo of each of you. One stands close to the camera and pokes the other, three metres behind, with a single finger: head, shoulder, side, hip, and they wobble over each time. Then a flat palm comes down on their head and squashes them into a squat. Hard cut, you swap places, and the squashed one gets revenge.

How to make a Hop Hop Hop AI Dance video

  1. Add two photos

Photo 1 pokes and squashes first. Photo 2 gets squashed first and gets revenge after the swap. One person per photo, face sharp and toward the camera.

  2. Keep Hop Hop Hop selected

This page opens the creator on the Hop Hop Hop effect, so the forced perspective, the pokes, the squash and the swap are already set.

  3. Render eight seconds

Four seconds each way, like the trend: two halves joined with a hard cut. Eight seconds is the only length.

  4. Post it

Add the trend sound when you upload, and line the cut up with the beat.

Who to put in it

The joke is the swap: whoever squashes first gets squashed back. Cast it so the revenge lands:

  • You and your best friend

Put the one who always starts things in Photo 1. The payback in the second half is the part people replay.

  • Siblings

Older sibling squashes first, younger one gets revenge. Or the other way round, if that is how it really goes.

  • Your partner

Let them be squashed first so they get the last word. Send it to them before you post it.

  • Twins

Use two photos in different outfits so everyone can tell who is who after the swap.

  • Cosplay duos

Two characters from the same show squashing each other works well. Use photos where the face is not hidden by a mask.

  • Render it twice

Swap the photos and make a second one. Post both and let the comments decide who won.

What is the Hop Hop Hop dance?

It is a duo trend built on forced perspective. The phone stays still; one person stands about a metre from the lens and the other a few metres behind. From the camera's point of view the one in front is huge and the one behind is small enough to push over with a finger.

It is also called the Gabi trend, after one of the first clips. In real life you need a tripod, a long room and a few takes to line the hand up with your friend's head. The Hop Hop Hop AI dance does that part for you from two photos.

Beat by beat

First half, four seconds: Photo 1 grins at the camera and pokes Photo 2 with one finger, head, then shoulder, then side, then hip. Each poke tips them over to the side and they spring back. Then a flat palm comes down on top of their head and pats three times; they push back with both hands, but each pat squashes them lower until they are in a deep squat.

Hard cut. Second half: the two of you have swapped places, and Photo 2 does the same to Photo 1. The halves are made from a fresh composed frame each, so both of you are clear in both halves.

What comes from where

From your photos: both faces, skin tones and hairstyles, glasses if you wear them, and the tops you have on. A head-and-shoulders photo is enough; trousers and shoes are filled in plainly to fit.

From the effect: the night car park, the camera position, the distance between you, the pokes, the squash, the swap and an upbeat instrumental with a hit on every poke and pat. There is no prompt to write.

The sound

Your video comes with its own upbeat instrumental. The sound most clips use is "Her Boyfriend" (Её парень) by Shluzov and NeShluzov; it is not in your download.

To use it, mute the clip when you post on TikTok, tap Add sound and search for the song. That also links your post to the sound's page.
